Concrete slab cutting is the process of cutting straight-line or rectangular openings through a floor or roof slab, most often for new staircases, lift shafts, service risers, skylight openings or removing a section of floor for renovation. It differs from core cutting, which produces round holes for pipes, in that slab cutting uses a flat diamond blade mounted on a floor saw or wall saw to score and cut through the slab in straight passes, followed by careful removal of the cut section, usually in prop-supported pieces rather than letting it drop.
The single biggest risk in slab cutting is that a floor slab is almost always load-bearing and often carries the load of everything above it, so cutting without proper propping or without understanding which bars are structural versus distribution steel can compromise the floor's safety. Planning before any cut is made

Propping: the step that gets skipped and shouldn't
